Recently I've noticed some problems with my SHO. Whenever I have a tuner hooked into the second output and I turn it on the signal coming out of my amp has a light distorted quality to it. It it still slightly clean but noticeably different. It is worse when the SHO is turned off and slightly better when turned on. Also sometimes when the SHO is turned on the sound fades in and out, sort of like a power tube failing. I know my amp is fine because without the SHO it does not do this. Is the battery just going dead? Or is there something wrong with the components? Anybody have any ideas?

I'd suggest changing the battery, but it sounds like the tuner. If it only happens when your tuner is connected then the tuner is suspect. Think about it... you said it's worse when the SHO is off. When the SHO is off, it's completely disconnected from the circuit! The tuner is the only thing that's connected to your guitar and amp at that point. It has to be the tuner.

Try the tuner alone without the SHO.

Thanks Mr. Vex, It is definitely the tuner. Any reason why the tuner would cause this unwanted distortion?
